Skating sessions, lifting weights and going over film are all part of the Penguins' regimen to get ready for the season opener. But that's not the only way the players are preparing. The Pens are in Stockholm bonding as a team -- Swedish-style.
The Swedes sent the Pens on a scavenger hunt, which players documented through still photographs. One of the most curious images features 6-foot-7-inch Hal Gill, standing in the middle of a Stockholm street and blowing a Viking horn.Pens' management broke up the players into small teams with Gill as one of the captains, leading his group in completing six different tasks. For example, Matt Cooke's team had to assemble an IKEA drawer.Players also had to identify the non-Swedish appetizers at a restaurant and everyone had to climb the 365 steps to the top of city hall. The team-bonding experiment was a hit and the players said not only was it fun, it was also a great way for them to see the historic sights of the city. Each team answered riddles and documented the hunt with photos.Teams were judged how fast they finished as well as how creatively they staged the required photos and Cooke's team finished in first place. You don't have to be a scavenger to hunt for a place to watch the Penguins home opener. You can watch the game this Saturday on the Jumbotron outside Mellon arena.
